HTML 5

HTML5 is the next generation of HTML.

What is HTML5?

HTML5 will be the new standard for HTML, XHTML, and the HTML DOM.

The previous version of HTML came in 1999. The web has changed a lot since then.

HTML5 is still a work in progress. However, most modern browsers have some HTML5 support.

How Did HTML5 Get Started?

HTML5 is a cooperation between the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG).

WHATWG was working with web forms and applications, and W3C was working with XHTML 2.0. In 2006, they decided to cooperate and create a new version of HTML.

Some rules for HTML5 were established:

  • New features should be based on HTML, CSS, DOM, and JavaScript
  • Reduce the need for external plugins (like Flash)
  • Better error handling
  • More markup to replace scripting
  • HTML5 should be device independent
  • The development process should be visible to the public

New Features

Some of the most interesting new features in HTML5:

  • The canvas element for drawing
  • The video and audio elements for media playback
  • Better support for local offline storage
  • New content specific elements, like article, footer, header, nav, section
  • New form controls, like calendar, date, time, email, url, search

Browser Support

The latest versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera support some HTML5 features. Internet Explorer 9 will support some HTML5 features.

HTML 5 improves interoperability and reduces development costs by making precise rules on how to handle all HTML elements, and how to recover from errors.

Some of the new features in HTML 5 are functions for embedding audio, video, graphics, client-side data storage, and interactive documents. HTML 5 also contains new elements like <nav>, <header>, <footer>, and <figure>.

The HTML 5 working group includes AOL, Apple, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Mozilla, Nokia, Opera, and many hundreds of other vendors.

Note: HTML 5 is not a W3C recommendation yet!

New Elements in HTML5

The internet has changed a lot since HTML 4.01 became a standard in 1999.

Today, some elements in HTML 4.01 are obsolete, never used, or not used the way they were intended to. These elements are deleted or re-written in HTML5.

To better handle today’s internet use, HTML5 also includes new elements for better structure, drawing, media content, and better form handling.

New Markup Elements

New elements for better structure:

<nav> For a section of navigation
<progress> The state of a work in progress
<ruby> For ruby annotation (Chinese notes or characters)

<rp> What to show browsers that do not support the ruby element
<section> For a section in a document. Such as chapters, headers, footers, or any other sections of the document
<time> For defining a time or a date, or both

New Media Elements

HTML 5 provides a new standard for media content:

Tag Description
<audio> For multimedia content, sounds, music or other audio streams
<video> For video content, such as a movie clip or other video streams
<source> For media resources for media elements, defined inside video or audio elements
<embed> For embedded content, such as a plug-in

The Canvas Element

The canvas element uses JavaScript to make drawings on a web page.

New Form Elements

HTML5 offers more form elements, with more functionality:

Tag Description
<datalist> A list of options for input values
<keygen> Generate keys to authenticate users
<output> For different types of output, such as output written by a script

New Input Type Attribute Values

Also, the input element’s type attribute has many new values, for better input control before sending it to the server:

Leonardo DaVinci was one of the smartest men to have ever lived. He was an accomplished artist, inventor, scientist, and mathematician. He is credited with being the father of many of our modern medical theories and inventions. But did you know that he credited much of his genius to his sleeping habits? Now you too can sleep in the same manner as the man who made the Mona Lisa smile.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • Patience
  • A quiet place to nap
  • Alarm Clocks
  1. Step 1

DaVinci sleep, or polyphasic sleep is the practice of sleeping more often for less time. This will allow your subconscious mind to enter enough REM (Random Eye Movement) sleep to keep it healthy, but also create more time for you to do what you need to. First, make sure you have time to do this. If you don’t have an adequate lunch break or variable hours at work, this may not work for you.

  2. Step 2

The basic rule is about 10 to 20 minutes of sleep per every 4 hour cycle of wakefulness. If you have lunch at around noon every day, this would make your nap cycle at noon, 4:00pm, 8:00pm, midnight, 4:00am, and 8:00am. You can move it where you want, but 10 to 20 minutes for every 4 hours awake is pretty general.

  3. Step 3

Be prepared for being miserable for the first few weeks. Your body will need time to adjust to the new cycle. Make sure you are eating healthy and supplying your body with the nutrients that it will need to continue to function. Also, be aware that because you will have more time, after you’ve adjusted, you will likely be more productive and may need to adjust your caloric intake accordingly.

  4. Step 4

Put an alarm clock where you are sleeping. It would not be good to take a nap at lunch time w

    Tips & Warnings
    • Make sure you have an alarm clock handy whenever you are going to sleep.
    • Try to keep your schedule constant. Eventually your body’ s circadian rhythm will adjust to this new schedule and expect sleep at around the same time.
    • This is actually pretty natural for all members of the animal kingdom; if you don’t believe me, watch your cat or dog for a day and see how often they nap.
    • Until you get used to this, try to refrain from operating heavy machinery, driving, performing brain surgery or any other task that would be bad if you fell asleep during! You will need time to adjust to this.

here you work, and not wake up from it until it’s quitting time. Make sure that you have a place to go, or can close your office door. In fact, many corporations are studying DaVinci sleep as a means to increase productivity.

Dear Agite’s

I am very glad that we have completed 4 years.

I would like to congratulate to all for this achievement and would like to thank all of them who worked hard to achieve this growth and success. However I would also like to remind everyone of the hard work and the days we spent in the basement – Good old days – It still feels like yesterday that we were having our Wednesday night parties or working till 2 am and still getting back to office at 9 am sharp!

It has been a wonderful journey so far and if there is a bigger excitement in my life – it would be to be part of Agile and to lead Agile, I hope we have done it nicely and in whatever limited ways we could. While the trends are looking up and the future remains optimistic, there are critical challenges that face us today. Our ability to meet these challenges head-on as individuals and collectively as a team will decide our road ahead. It is really important and imperative that while new projects and business development is the focus, each one of us works hard and showing good dedication towards project completions.

I also believe that each one of us responsible towards the client satisfaction and we would continue to strive for complete client satisfaction and retention. All of us may not be directly interfacing with clients and influencing our business development but we all definitely have a role to play in the processes, services of the company that finally impact the client especially in the quality of work we deliver.

The need of the hour is to keep our focus on the end result of client satisfaction and deliver the projects in timely and qualitative fashion, no matter what functional role we may be part of. I have great confidence in each one of you and realize how hard you continue to work. I admire the dedication with which you stood by the company in these trying times and put in your best. Despite the testing times I have complete faith that if all of us remain passionate and focused on the work we do, we will definitely achieve things that we have planned for the coming year.

All the best and Congratulations once again on completing 4 years the success is all ours!!

Powerful, Confident, in- the- know. Is that how you think of yourself? Well hold on; do you have the latest Smartphone? The answer to that question could determine your status in life. Having an IPhone has become a Status Symbol. In many companies, senior executives and key staff are armed with IPhones or other premium smartphones to accelerate communication.

Why would consumers tether themselves to a PC when phones are growing more and more powerful — and are cheaper, too? People are increasingly choosing smartphones like IPhones to stay connected with each other and with everything else. IPhones are fast replacing PCs as the main gateway to the Internet! The potential is enormous!! Growth in demand for advanced mobile devices boasting powerful processors, abundant memory, larger screens and open operating systems have outpaced the rest of the mobile phone market for several years. A research in 2010 shows that over 45.5 million people in the United States own smartphones and it is the fastest growing segment of the mobile phone market, which comprised of 234 million subscribers in the United States alone!

Flashback 2007, Steve Jobs of Apple Inc. announced the release of the IPhone. People waited with baited breath. Over the years Apple has earned an almost cult like following across the globe for the multiple applications and features of the IPhone. Cut to 2010, Apple has gradually become the market leader in smartphones. So far, millions of iPhone handsets have been sold across the world and the way things have been shaping up, it is quite apparent that this fervor would not die down easily – not in the near future for sure.

But what is this smartphone that is revolutionizing the way we communicate with each other? Well, an IPhone is the convergence of the PC and a mobile handset. IPhones are empowered with 3G Technology causing a sudden surge in the development of IPhone Applications. IPhones offer advanced capabilities, internet access, powerful processors, large Touch Screens often with PC-like functionality. In other words, it is a miniature computer that also has phone capabilities.

Agile Technosys has been working on IPhone mobile application development for quite some time now. Rest assured the team of professionally accomplished developers at Agile Technosys is both confident and competent to cater to your requirements and will provide unique and customized IPhone Software Development solutions. Apart from IPhone Application Development, Agile Technosys also offers offshore outsourcing software development and services to a global clientele.

Celebrated On : 1st May
Significance : State of Maharashtra attained statehood
State was formed in : 1960

1st May is celebrated as Maharashtra day. On this day the state of Maharashtra attained statehood. Maharashtra is one of the largest states in India, both in terms of population and area. Its booming capital Mumbai, makes it not only one of the most important states, economically, but also a major gateway for overseas visitors.

The present state was formed in 1960 when the Marathi and Gujarati linguistic areas of the former Bombay state were separated. Bombay then became the capital of the new state. In independent India, Bombay, the bilingual state, continued as one state consisting of Maharashtra and Gujarat. But this equation of two linguistic units in one state did not work and therefore on 1st May 1960, under the Bombay re-organization Act, Maharashtra and Gujarat were divided into separate states. Maharashtra retained the old capital Bombay. Shiv Sena Government has renamed the capital city Bombay into Mumbai.
In Mumbai, the Maharashtra Day celebrations are held at the Shivaji Park in central Mumbai. The governor of the state takes the salute at the ceremonial parade, comprising members of the state reserve police force, Brihanmumbai Commando Force, home guards, civil defence, fire brigade and city police.
